Guessing Game

Hello All,

Yes it's about that time again. No, I am not here to remind you that a certain holiday is 22 days away or that another special day is only 37 days away. I'm here to tell you that it's time for Horihan Guessing Game. You get to guess the gender, weight, length, and date of birth for our second child. Unfortunately, there is no monetary gift or surprise. You get the satisfaction of being CORRECT which makes everyone else WRONG! It's a great game. I mean, just the gender question it's a 50/50 chance. Please pass this along to anyone who wishes to make a gander(or added to the list when baby is on the way). Length of delivery is NOT an option or a needed suggestion.

Input you may need to know.

Due date is January 5th. William was born on his due date.
I am also measuring perfectly according to the doctors. Heart rate is about 140.
I had one day of nausea with William, about 3 weeks with current pregnancy during the first trimester
I fell good overall, just like with William, except very low and some discomfort with circulation.
About the same weight gain. No weird or serious cravings unfortunately. I do not have the waddle or the outtie belly button...(yet?)

I will keep an excel spreadsheet to figure in all the guesses. I will keep you all posted on how things are going. Deadline for guesses is Dec. 10th. I did change it only to be fair to all participants. Only one guess per person. Void where prohibited. Monies and bribery will not be accepted unless in cash and in person. :)

Please email me if you wish to be on the "baby alert" email. For your guesses you can post a comment here.

Good luck! Have fun! And let the guessing begin!

Hillsboro Christmas Tree Lighting

Last night Lynn, William and myself headed downtown Hillsboro to watch the Christmas tree lighting. They cut a ~20' Douglas fir and put it up at the relatively new civic center. They were also passing out free cookies, hot chocolate and coffee. It turned out to be a pretty rainy evening, but I was surprised at the number of people that showed up. I guess the seasoned Oregonians aren't put off by a little rain. We put William in his Barcelona poncho and Lynn and I busted out the ole' Purude umbrella. It was nice to not have so many people around so we could let William wander around more. Even Santa showed up with his...ah... snow pixie? I'm not sure what she was, but William eyed both with suspicion.

Now we're in December! I've held off on any Christmas things until December. I will partake in some Post-Thanksgiving sales, but no Lights nor Tree nor Christmas elf. I've been seeing Christmas displays in stores for the past month... I'm usually "Yay for Capitalism!", but not when it comes for Christmas (and turns into Consumerism).

As a side note, has anybody purchased those LED lights? I guess they have several upsides to traditional Christmas lights... if you ignore their 8x cost. The LED's never burn out, so no more fiddling with burnt out strings. They don't use much power, so you could (almost) literally run your entire house out of one socket. They don't get hot, so you reduce the risk of fire. I though "Great, lets buy em". NOPE! Totally sold out this year. The only ones I saw left on the shelves were the imitation old-school bulbs (the big ones). All the others were gone. Crap. Guess I'll wait and see what happens.

On a side note, it might be a good time to find out who makes the majority of them and invest a little $$ into them.

Looks like we've found a new home, "www.horihanfamily.net"! This is it for the next year, so keep on coming back for more updates. Hopefully we'll be more punctual with updates, especially now that a baby is on the way! Hope all well with everybody as we enter the 2007 Christmas season.

New Web Page!

Hey Everybody, we've got a new web page! Ok, so I've really just abandoned the old web site. It turns out that having a web server on my own computer at home is a bit of a job in itself. There are lots of software upgrades to do and you can never turn your computer off. The domain name is funny (and it expires every month) which makes it difficult for people to remember it. This is even before I even have a chance to update any content. :-(

So I've decided to make the web page new again. This time, less is more. You'll be able to read updates and view pictures as you've done before, just without the requirements to login. I think we lost a bunch of people from the login bit... so its gone.

Anyways, back to basics. We write, you read. We take pictures, you view. We take video, you... ah... view. The hope is that things are more streamlined and ready to go. I hope you continue to follow J&L and William in our pictures and stories as we post more and more. If you've recently come across this again, please forward this web address on to someone that may have missed it.

Thanks for sticking with us!
