Matthew John Horihan was born this morning at 4:55AM. He weighed in at 8 lbs 3 oz and has a height of 19 inches. Mom and Matthew are resting now at the hospital, both getting some needed sleep. Both are doing fine. For those of you who are concerned, Dad and Son #1 are doing well do. I have a bit of pain in my left calf, but I'm sure it will go away. Anyways... For the rest of you, three pictures of the newly named Matthew.

More later!

Christmas Tree

Lynn, William and I headed out on Sunday to get our own Christmas tree. This would be Lynn (and William's) first real tree! On a tip from our neighbors, we headed to "Loch Lolly", a tree farm ~10 miles north of Hillsboro. It is situated in a hilly area, with a small artifical dam with ducks and geese... I'm guessing that was Loch Lolly. Anyways, the three of us romped around the Noble Fir area until we found a tree that we liked, then immediately found another one we liked better. I got down on the ground, bused out the bow saw and cut down my first Christmas tree. It wasn't as exciting as I had thought. Anyways, we had it baled... anybody ever seen a tree baler? Its pretty neat... like a hay baler, except for trees. Kind of like putting twine on a bale of hay, except its plastic like net wrap (for all you farmers out there). We then tied the tree to the top of Lynn's Car. We think the guys working there were taking bets to see how long it would take for the tree to fall off. Everyone else there had big SUV. Come on people, with a little ingenuity, and a wife to hold the string inside the car, you can use anything to get the tree home.
We got it home and put it up. Lynn had it decorated within an hour... yikes. Sometimes her efficiency scares me. Now if only we could focus that energy... :-)

Stormy Weather

Looks like we (in Hillsboro) missed the major stormy weather. It was pretty windy yesterday when I went to work, with Gusts here about 50 mph. I thought that was pretty big, but they had gusts up to 100 mph at Timberline lodge and 160 on the coast. Its the first time every a Hurricane warning was issued for the Oregon coast. Yikes! The real problem now is flooding. With so much rain in such a short time, the tiny streams around here are flooding. The local city of Vernonia is surrounded by water today, with the national guard getting people out by rafts. The park that the three of us went hiking at last week is also unaccessible. Oregon also lost the worlds larget Sitka Spruce, a 400+ year old tree that blew down. Its on HWY 26 on the way to the coast, right outside of Cannon beach. We've never gotten a chance to see it... Lynn is usually too tired after a day at the beach to see a big tree. :-(

Anyways, rain rain rain. Its been raining non-stop for the past three day. No time to put up lights... but maybe this weekend.

Guessing Game

Hello All,

Yes it's about that time again. No, I am not here to remind you that a certain holiday is 22 days away or that another special day is only 37 days away. I'm here to tell you that it's time for Horihan Guessing Game. You get to guess the gender, weight, length, and date of birth for our second child. Unfortunately, there is no monetary gift or surprise. You get the satisfaction of being CORRECT which makes everyone else WRONG! It's a great game. I mean, just the gender question it's a 50/50 chance. Please pass this along to anyone who wishes to make a gander(or added to the list when baby is on the way). Length of delivery is NOT an option or a needed suggestion.

Input you may need to know.

Due date is January 5th. William was born on his due date.
I am also measuring perfectly according to the doctors. Heart rate is about 140.
I had one day of nausea with William, about 3 weeks with current pregnancy during the first trimester
I fell good overall, just like with William, except very low and some discomfort with circulation.
About the same weight gain. No weird or serious cravings unfortunately. I do not have the waddle or the outtie belly button...(yet?)

I will keep an excel spreadsheet to figure in all the guesses. I will keep you all posted on how things are going. Deadline for guesses is Dec. 10th. I did change it only to be fair to all participants. Only one guess per person. Void where prohibited. Monies and bribery will not be accepted unless in cash and in person. :)

Please email me if you wish to be on the "baby alert" email. For your guesses you can post a comment here.

Good luck! Have fun! And let the guessing begin!
