PDX Autoshow

The Portland autoshow is this weekend. This will be the second year in a row that we've attended the event. William (and I'm going to assume Matthew) get a kick out of sitting in the cars and turning the steering wheel. Most cars are pretty fast to get into... there's nobody in them. Some, however, have a line waiting to get in. The new Corvette and a new Porsche 911 both had a line to sit in... W,M, and I toughed it out to sit in both. I'll take 'em!

Does any other city have a preoccupation with the airport call letters like Portland does? I catch myself doing it all the time.... "PDX" this and "PDX" that. Intel uses PDX all over the place to represent the Oregon campus. TV stations out here are named after it as well. So I was curious... why the "X" in PDX? It turns out... nothing! The X is a filler letter. Portland should have been abbreviated "PD" but the designation was for three letters, so they added an "X". You'll notice this on "LAX" as well. Something to think about... maybe someone else knows another ??X airport.

Two post in a row?

That's right, two posts in a row. Ok, in reality, I can't sleep. Went to work out tonight and then had a fiasco at the grocery store. Found out my DVR won't fit in my entertainment stand (crap) and now i can't sleep. None the less... I'm enjoying the sun over the past few weeks. Very invigorating.

On a side note, the boys are both sick. Dr is thinking Bronchitis, exactly what any small boy needs. They're taking it in style though, where they hardly notice the snot flying everywhere.

Anybody else join facebook? I joined recently and found a bunch of people on there. I was hoping for more Purdue people, but there are lots of Lanesboro people on it as well. Its nice to see some people are still alive!

So we made it back (as you may well know) from MN. The big surprise went well.

Things that have happened since we've been away.

1. Matthew turned 1
2. Lynn turned 28
3. William turned 4

Oh yeah, I made it through all the birthday bashes. Nice.. next one is moi!

Not much goin' on in the greater Hillsboro metropolitan area. Weather has been nice during the week... cold on the weekends. Lynn and I had a very nice date on Thursday. Took her out to Nostrana, then to Cacao for some dessert. It was a very nice evening, something we should do more often!

Merry Christmas!

Lynn and I made it to MN this year. We were able to suprise my parents by just showing up at their doorstep. You may think... that's gutsy, but we had it planned right down to the smallest details. Ok, I had a few people inside that were helping me, namely Kevin and Erin. They were able to organize things and intercept gift packages before they got to the post office.

We had spent a few days in Carol Stream, IL, meeting up with Lynn's side of the family and having a few Christmas gift exchanges. It was nice to see the entire family.

Dare I say, the midwest is cold? It was barely above zero in Carol Stream and here in Lanesboro its about 14 below zero this morning. Yikes, its cold! There's lots of snow here, but still less than what is now in Portland. Hopefully all is melting quietly in PDX.

Anyways, here's hoping that you and yours are enjoying this Christmas holiday. Cheers!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Matthew, William, Lynn and I hosted a Thanksgiving party yesterday, inviting over to our home friends of ours. We shared turkey with two other couples, Ian and Janel and Melvin and Allen. Fun was had by all. We enjoyed a quartet of bottles of wine, as well as a cornucopia of food. Ian and Janel brought a savory ham, while Allen brought several dessert and a tasty stuffing. Melvin followed instructions to the letter, bringing home made bread and home made cranberry sauce. I can honestly say its the first Thanksgiving that I've ever been too that was devoid of jellied cranberry sauce. Thanks all!

Hope everyone reading this had a great Thanksgiving!
